Peace Like a River...

Our farm has a river below it that runs with a quiet murmuring we can hear during the night.
Our crops benefit from it during the dry season.
Water gets pumped by a generator and through the sprinkler system.

We enjoy walks along the river with our dogs...
come along with us as we take a trip along it

The river is lined with large boulders...
and shaded by an emerald forest

There is bamboo everywhere...
looking tall, straight and beautiful...
lending an ethereal feel to the forest

Every so often...
we meet a tree that had seen long ago days...
and now gives homes to lizards and other forest critters

Because this land was a large plantation estate at one time...
we still see fruit trees of various kinds still living and propagating...
such as the avocado tree below...
we will revisit this one to see how the pears are coming along...
they are free for the taking to those who find them.

The river runs down from the mountains...
full of nutrients and always cool.
Fish live in it...and we do see crayfish.

We love the pools of water...
some are a few feet deep...

The dogs certainly find their thirst quenched...
and refreshment in the cool waters

The rocks and boulders give places of small waterfalls

The plants living along side the river...
thrive, bold and beautiful

We pass by papaya trees growing wild still...
giving fruit for the wild things of the forest for food...

I do so love the waterfalls...

Just a piece of the emerald forest along the way

We stop at any mango tree bearing fruit ready for picking...

We stop in a few sunlit spots...

and feel the difference in the coolness of the shades...
under the canopies of trees

The wild vines capture my imagination...
with their tangled weaves from tree to tree

We could keep going...
but, it's a long way off still to the end of the river...
which eventually meets with the sea.

Often, it is tempting for me to see only chaos in this world
and forget that God is in control.
Whenever my mind starts to focus on the chaos rather than on the Lord, He will remind me in His word that He is indeed Sovereign.
One of the most wonderful promises in the Bible...
is in Isaiah 66:12 - 13
"For thus saith the Lord,
Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river,
and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream:
then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides,
and be dandled upon her knees."
This verse is explaining the peace of God for the spiritual Jerusalem that is built up by God of both Jews and Gentiles.
The same peace of God that is given into our hearts that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) in the face of a troubled world.
Now that, is heaven on earth!

May you know the peace of God also.
