Finding Comfort in Discomfort...

God never promised a rose garden to those who belong to Him
on the contrary...
we were promised trials and tribulations

In Luke 22, Jesus told Simon Peter that Satan desired to sift him as wheat
but, instead of refraining the devil from wreaking havoc on Peter...
Jesus told Peter, He would pray for him...
that his faith would not fail

wow...oh, wow
God Himself praying for His own people
the Lord Jesus prayed in John 17 for His people, the sheep of His pasture
what a wonder that is

it is a good thing to have our God pray for us
how would we be able to get through the day if He wasn't there to uphold us?

this photo below depicts how I am often tempted to feel when confronted with the uncomfortableness of life here in this present world

(I do not know who the photo belongs to but, there is a name in the bottom right hand corner...
which I couldn't make out
if anyone knows who this photo belongs to, I'd like to give credit to that person)

I see in these wolves a discomfort

it is a picture to me of how the discomfort in this sin-filled world makes me feel

but, there is comfort in this...
because I know that God is in control, I can joyfully read in Psalms 23:4...

...I will fear no evil:
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

when God sends discomfort my way...
Psalms 94:12,13 becomes a comfort

Blessed is the man whom Thou chasteneth, O Lord,
and teachest him out of Thy law;
that Thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity,
until the pit be digged for the wicked.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies,
and the God of all comfort;
Who comforteth us in all our tribulation,
that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble,
by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us,
so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5

in my discomfort I can truly say...

The Lord is my Rock;
and my Fortress,
and my Deliverer;
my God, my Strength,
in Whom I will trust;
my Buckler, and the Horn of my salvation,
and my High Tower.
Psalms 18:2,3

May your day, or night have comfort in the Lord
