Restoring The Worship of God - Don Fortner

Pastor Don Fortner cuts to the quick on the modern worship of God.
If only more preachers were as forthright on the subject as he is.

May the Lord in His mercy give you grace.

Considering the Quiet and Simple Life...

Here on Pilgrim's Farm...
we live as quietly and simply as the Lord gives our living

we love that our Lord God has admonished us to study to be quiet...
to work with our hands, minding our own business

to do work that will bring us lack of nothing

we don't feel the need to get involved in the worldly affairs of politics...
or protests against what we feel has wronged us...
or fretting over the chaos and noise of the world's system and wickedness

we are keepers at home on the farm and in the cottage...
doing with our hands and minds what the Lord has given us to do

quietly, peacefully, working as hard as we need to...
and being good stewards as He has blessed us with

and as we work...
the Lord God blesses as He sees fit...
with whatever He increases for our needs

our purpose on earth as God's children and the sheep of Christ...
is to honor and glorify Him by His work of sovereign, saving grace

knowing this...
we hold to the word of God which is the true food for our souls...
giving us the spiritual nutrition of the Bread of Life, our Lord Jesus Christ

1 Thessalonians 4:11,12

and that ye study to be quiet,
and to do your own business,
and to work with your own hands,
as we have commanded you;
that ye may walk honestly toward them that are without,
and that ye may have lack of nothing.
(King James Version)

and the Greek translation saying the same thing:

and to have as your ambition to be quiet
and to practice your own things
and to work with your own hands,
just as we commanded you,
in order that you may walk becomingly toward the ones outside
 and may have need of nothing.

May the Lord give the Bread of Life, for your healing, by His saving grace.

He Who Upholds...

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:
and he delighteth in His way.

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand.

I have been young, and now am old;
yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor His seed begging bread.
He is ever merciful, and lendeth;
and His seed is blessed.
Psalm 37:23-26

Blessed be the Lord and...
may He bless your day or night.

Brown Spots...

When the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence...
you never know what brown spots may be lurking

We live in an imperfect world...
it is dirty, sinful, depraved

No matter where we may live...
no matter how beautiful a place may be

We may not always see them...
but, if you peer closely...
there are brown spots everywhere among the green grass

The whole world suffers from the brown spots of depravity...
causing even the most lovely places in the world to suffer the consequences...
of the deadness of man's love for mankind...
the deadness of man's love for God...
the deadness of man's love for His creation

These dead, brown spots bring crime and chaos...
suffering, shame...
unlovely spots among the green grass

And, on a world of depravity and hatred towards God...
the brown spots grow larger as the end of time looms closer

Perhaps, this is why God tells His people...

Let not thine heart envy sinners:
but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long.
Proverbs 23:17

 They that forsake the law praise the wicked:
but such as keep the law contend with them.

For evil men understand not judgment:
but they that seek the Lord shall understand all things.

Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness,
than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.
Proverbs 28:4-6

And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgement,
that wickedness was there;
and the place of righteousness,
that iniquity was there.

I said in my heart,
God shall judge the righteous and the wicked:
for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
Ecclesiastes 3:15,16

May the Lord bless you with His saving grace and bring you into a new world that
shines with the righteousness of Christ.

His Way is Perfect...

As for God, His way is perfect:
the word of the Lord is tried:
He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him.

For who is God save the Lord?
or who is a rock save our God?
It is God that girdeth me with strength,
and maketh my way perfect.

The Lord liveth;
and blessed be my Rock;
and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
Psalms 18:30-32,46

May you look to the Lord to be your Buckler and Rock.

What is God's Sovereign Grace?...

God's sovereign grace is just this...
He says...
"I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion
on whom I will have compassion.
So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth,
but of God that sheweth mercy".
Romans 9:15; Exodus 33:19

Because mankind is carnally minded, born into sin,
in bondage to sin, helpless in his own ability...
only God can bring about the salvation of an individual.
Only God.
How?
He regenerates the heart of whom He will have mercy on.
He makes that heart willing in the day of His power...
"Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power..."
Psalms 110:3

The power of what?
The power of His arm of salvation...
For of Jesus Christ, our Lord, it was said...
"And He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore His arm brought salvation unto Him;
and His righteousness, it sustained Him."
Isaiah 59:16

God alone gets all the credit of saving a soul.

Blessed be the Lord God.
May He show His grace and mercy to you.

No Autumn Here...But

On our tiny island, we have no autumn

May your day, or night, be filled with thoughts on the Lord.
Isaiah 59: 1,2,21
