Sweet Pleasures...

When the Lord God created the earth and all it's living creatures...
He did it for His glory and our enjoyment as well as our use

well...I sure did enjoy finding this sweet baby dove...
sitting quietly under the banana trees...
waiting for mama and papa doves to bring food

it is very rare to find a fledgling dove as they hide so well
I didn't linger too long so the parents wouldn't hesitate to come back quickly

we've got pineapples coming along

the pineapple blooms are growing into fruit...
and soon, they will lose their lovely pinks and purples as they mature into yellow-orange

the zinnias are going full force...
and since most of the flowers are in a favorite pink color of mine...
it behooves me to pick a few for my table on the veranda to enjoy

the roses are giving their beauty under the veranda...

I'll keep them on the bushes and once they pass their prime and wane...

and as the younger rose buds come up...

and delight with the promise of full blooms...

I'll pick the petals from the old roses...

and scatter them in the breeze for the chickens

while the chickens like the rose petals...
they ignore the zinnias...
and I always pay attention to what my chickens will and will not eat
they usually know what's good and what's not

so, I take advantage of this and bring my pretty zinnias...

to my veranda table for the pleasure of enjoying God's creative work

The works of the Lord are great,
sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.
Psalm 111:2

May your day or night find pleasures in the sweetness of my Lord's grace.

More Lime Time and a Peeper...

With all the limes we are harvesting at this time...
I am juicing them and freezing much of it for future use...
when maybe there aren't so many on the trees

but, I don't discard the peels

instead...
I put them in freezer bags along with the leftover juiced lime...
to use as disinfectants in my cleaning water

the lime gets peeled first...
which makes the lime very easy to juice without much effort

I like to put the used limes cut up into smaller pieces
in narrow necked bottles...
and mixed along with some baking soda...
with just a bit of water to swish them around the bottle

they do a good job of cleaning and disinfecting better than a bottle brush

hey, little bird...
are you peeping through my window?

what, who? me?
I was just looking for bugs

May your day or night find sweet delight in God's grace.

Morning Glories....

In the mornings, when I wander through the yard around the cottage...

there is more often than not, something to carry a camera for

this wee one that grew up outside my bedroom window...

became a fledgling and I came upon it as I took a peek at the upcoming pineapples

sitting quietly, motionless, securely in the bush, waiting...

while mama...

and papa hover nearby...

carefully watching over and caring for their wee one...
while the wee one learns the ways of the bird world before it takes flight on it's own

don't you just love the wee one's downy "mohawk"?

the crepe ginger has finally bloomed

each flower takes it's time coming out

and shows just how lovely God can make a morning, glory in His creation

you can see why it is called a "crepe ginger"

and my little lizard friend...
who so sweetly watches over my pineapples...
says...

May your day, or night be sweetly filled with God's grace.

Some Moments in the Garden...

Seedlings are growing...
and, I can't wait to transplant them into the garden

my grey zucchini is flowering...
and, I'm afraid I'm a little premature in my excitement over them

it still remains to be seen as to whether they will stay on the vines

the swiss chard did fine last year...
so, I am eagerly waiting to transplant those seedlings again this year

the white muessenda bush has more flowers than ever...
I just may see more white than green on this one

we could use a little more of something other than green
but, don't get me wrong...
I do love green

the flycatcher and his Mrs are still feeding their young ones

and I have noticed the young ones peeping out of their nest box...
always hungry

soon, very soon, they will be leaving the nest

and the roses!
they just keep coming out and blooming

so, let me leave you with another deep pink rose

I love the frilly petals

and the people of God can say with joy...

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers:
the snare is broken,
and we are escaped.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 124:7,8

May your day, or night be graced by the Lord.

Banana Sharing...

We do a lot of that on the farm...

as bananas ripen and one by one start to fall...

the myriad of birds come for breakfast, lunch and dinner...

although, not officially invited...

there is no bashfulness on their part to bring themselves...

and at least, they bring their own eating utensils

the beak, that is...
not the knife

I kindly asked if they would leave a few for Pilgrim's cottage dwellers...

so off a few bunches went into the bucket and up the stairs for safe keeping

gotta love the sweet birds

have yourself a handful

*orphaned finches hand raised by me*

May the Lord grace your day, or night with His blessings.

Need Spring...?

for those who need a little Spring in your weather...
and to those who just enjoy the Lord's creations

while our mango tree is growing fruit...

a little sweet female finch is feathering her nest...

while her mate takes part in bringing the goods...

for their sweet little home for the coming brood

and I'll stand back to not disturb

May your day, or night be rosy in the grace of God.
