P is for Passionfruit...

There is an understanding that passionfruit reduces cancer cell activity...
the phytochemicals in the fruit are, they say, responsible for that

and because the Lord has so created passionfruit with that benefit...
we are indeed blessed with another earthly beauty for food

our passionfruit vines have been growing like there is no tomorrow
and it took just a few months from the time the small vines were planted till...
they are now producing blooms and fruit of more than we can use

while we use the flowers and leaves for a nightime tea...
these large wild bees are consuming the nectar from the exotic blooms

it doesn't take long for a passionfruit vine to quickly creep along the fences...
even up trees and need to be contained by pruning from time to time

once the flowers become the fruit, it's only a matter of days till they ripen and...

start dropping to the ground more often than I can get out there to pick them up

and when I do, we get a stash of fruit that needs to be used

I often eat them as they are, seeds and all, with some raw honey mixed into the fruit...
but, this week, it looks like plenty juice will be made

the best way to strain the juice and separate the seeds to keep the juice smooth...
is to use a mesh strainer and use a spoon to squeeze the juice through

it doesn't take very long and patience is rewarding...
in the form of juice that is chock full of vitamin C, A and potassium

full of phenolic acids and flavonoids, giving the heart good nutrition...
it is also anti-microbiotic and anti-oxidant

the plant sterols in the fruit helps in lowering cholesterol
and the seeds are a vital source of fiber

it's also known to have somniferous properties...
which relax and can help a person to sleep
the flowers and leaves have the same properties which is convenient for...
night time tea

and last, but not least...
passionfruit has carbohydrates and simple sugars...
making this a good choice for athletes

because passionfruit is naturally tart...
when I make the juice, raw honey is added for sweetness

isn't it rather wonderful how the Lord knew to give us healthy foods...
that taste so good, too?

and even better than the fruits of the earth...
is the fruit of the Holy Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, faith, goodness, meekness,temperance:
against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22,23

and truly...

For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth
Ephesians 5:9

May your day or night find fruit in the grace of God.
