from it's true meaning, confusing many on the true Gospel of Jesus Christ
Mark Kielar gives an excellent explanation on John 3:16 which says...
For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believes in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.
