Visit of the Maribone Wasp...

While sitting under the cottage with a coconut water break...

a tiny visitor came along and sat on my knee

we watched while it whirled it's wings

cleaned it's legs

twisting it's wee body as it scraped off tiny bits of debris

and getting a nosy sniff by Foxie

who backed away with instinctive caution

then, in a flash, the tiny visitor was gone...
flown to wherever it came from

Have a great day, or night.

Some Grow Fast; Others Slow...

The white mussaenda in the potager garden is
getting too pretty not to stare at

don't you just love big, bunchy, fluffy flowers that just captivate your vision?

it's such lovely creations of God...
that make me impatient for my new camera
(a good friend of ours is bringing it with him in the near future)

we also have a coral pink one...
but, I know there is a mussaenda with pale pink flowers...
and why is it I only ever see one in someone else's garden...
and never in a nursery?

if I could get up the gumption to ask...
"I covet your pale pink mussaenda...would you mind cutting off a branch...
so I can stick it in my garden and hope it grows?"

if I ever see a pale pink mussaenda at the nursery...
it's coming home to my garden

I am thankful God has seen to bless me with the plants we have

the white mussaenda in the potager went from this in below photo

to this in the next photo...
it only took 2 months for that to happen

now...
concerning my lemon balm planted alongside the rain barrel...
my husband did me a big favor and put a little fencing around the plants

my dogs had developed the habit of brushing along the plants...
and putting their noses inside them...
not what I like for my edible herbs

hopefully, this will solve the situation and keep their nosy noses out of my balm bushes

and then...there are the pineapples

we have pineapples growing all over the farm...
and one thing I have learned from watching them...
is not to watch them

they only grow slower that way

I do hope the Lord may bless your day, or night.

When Clouds Descend & Hens Brood...

We've had a lot of this lately...

low clouds and lots of rain

during the rainy season...
we often see clouds creeping down from the mountains...
and slowly, silently sweeping through the valley over the river

there is something quietly mysterious about low clouds, mist, fog

as for my chickens...the whole flock of 3?

they seem not to notice that we have the rainy season on us
Big Red and Penny are busy making sure each feather is in tip top shape

as for Milly...
well, what do you know?!
I've got a brooding hen

perhaps, we'll see a little chick shortly...
just one egg...
that's all Milly has under her

but, if I stick my hand in there...
she does protest much

Have a good day, or night.

A Thumb-Twiddling Post...

Just a few photos today

a leaf that drips dew in the morning

to the pomegranate tree that is heartily growing fruit to look forward to

from the pomegranate tree to pumpkins hiding in the bush
and a little anole lizard watching carefully over it
(that is...watching me carefully)

to my new vanilla vines finally picked up from the nursery
(I love green moss covered pots)

to my dog, Shadow...
who is doing me proud at getting along just fine with the chickens

to our milking goat, Farina, enjoying a treat of green bananas
(she's going to have a kid...or two...in a few months)

to a trio of one of my favorite things...
doves around my cottage

For every beast of the forest is mine,
and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
I know all the fowls of the mountains:
and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
If I were hungry,
I would not tell thee:
for the world is mine,
and the fulness thereof.

so saith the Lord in Psalm 50:10-12
Amen! dear Lord

May your day, or night be filled with God's grace.

Rainy Days and Mondays...

they don't get me down...
on the contrary

when it's pouring outside...
the wheelbarrow gets stood up

the garden and farm tools hung back up on their hooks

the sombrero given a safe haven under the thick leaves of banana trees

and my trusty coffee cup stays inside the cottage...
with me : )

May the Lord grace your day with sunshine.

Coconut Shell Planter...

Once in a while...
I'll actually manage to break open a coconut shell in half

and have fun making a planter of it

Have a wonderful day, or night.

What Does God Want...?

The better question should be...
does God "want"?
He has no need of anything...

God is sovereign
He is the Alpha and Omega
He is All in All
He is His own companion

God does not want for anything,
He created all things for His own good will and pleasure

We are the clay
He is the Potter

But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father;
we are the clay, Thou art our Potter;
and we all are the work of Thine hand.
Isaiah 64:8

God does whatsoever He pleases

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing:
and He doeth according to His will in the army of heaven,
and among the inhabitants of the earth:
and none can stay His hand,
or say unto Him,
what doest Thou?
Daniel 4:35

Whatsoever God pleases,
He decrees

Whatsoever He decrees,
comes to pass

He does not need for anyone to come to Him,
to worship Him,
to live for Him,
no!
As God Himself says...

For He saith to Moses,
"I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion"
So then, it is not of him (man) that willeth,
nor of him that runneth,
but of God that sheweth mercy.
Romans 9:15,16

When God calls His sheep,
it is our reasonable duty to serve Him in any way He leads us to

No, God does not want for anything
He created all things for His own good purpose and pleasure,
not because He needed us for anything

God is sovereign and holy...
we are just filthy rags,
unholy creatures,
fallen into the deathtrap of sin

It is to God's glory alone,
that He has shown mercy, grace and love to anyone at all,
for none of us deserve His own work of salvation

God alone, indeed, is Sovereign.

May it be the Lord has shown mercy and grace to you!

God's Handiwork...

Scenes of the caribbean island Pilgrim's Farm lives on

low tide at a beach

mountain scene of a small village

view of sister islands from the most northern part of the main island

golden sunset view and a tiny moon above the sea

May you have a good day, or night.

Growing Ginger...

Everyone knows something about ginger...
did you know it can be grown in a pot?

if you like using ginger often...
it pays to grow it in containers...
granted, it takes about a year to get to harvest time

with all the nutritional and health benefits of ginger...
I see no reason not to grow ginger

if you grow it in containers...
it can be grown even in colder regions...
so long as it's protected or brought inside from the cold season

just give it plenty light and keep it a tad moist but, not too wet...
let it dry out a bit before giving it some moisture

for info on growing ginger, you can go to:

our neighbor gave us a bag full of ginger roots...
many were ready to plant

I took a couple of ginger rhizomes and put them in a container...
in just a couple of months, they've gone from above photo...
to the plant in below photo...
with still more rhizomes pushing green through the soil

I planted more rhizomes in the potager garden behind the cottage...
and planted rows with the rest in the large garden outside the cottage compound

my potager garden ginger went from this, below...

to this, which now stands at about two feet

the rows in the large garden are doing as well...
we should have plenty ginger in the future, if the Lord pleases

"He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle,
and herb for the service of man:
that he may bring forth food out of the earth"
Psalm 104:14

Blessed be the Lord for His gifts.

May you have a blessed day, or night.
