Quiet Rest...

The last two days have been of quiet rest...
from farmwork;
it's been raining almost non-stop.

With a hammock beckoning on the veranda...
what else could one do?

He really did try to read;
but, the sound of the soft rains...
and a cool breeze whispering through the veranda...

eventually...
the book found it's way to his lap...
closed it's pages...
and took it's nap along with husband

There is a place of quiet rest more precious than a hammock...

"Return unto thy rest, O my soul;
for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee."
Psalms 116:7

"There is a place of quiet rest
 near to the heart of God.
A place where sin cannot molest
near to the heart of God."

"O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
sent from the heart of God;
hold us, who wait before Thee,
near to the heart of God."
hymn lyrics and tune by Cleland Boyd McAfee (1866-1944)

May you find rest in God today.

  1. What a blessing to enjoy that rest w/ the sound of the rain.

    I'm so thankful for the rest God gives us, we couldn't make it day to day without it.
